The Holy Spirit: Power

God did not call us to live a life with Him where we walk powerless. He called us to walk in power (2 Timothy 1:7)

Zechariah 4:6 reads “Then he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts (ESV)”. God doesn’t want us walking around with the strength and might we have, He wants us to call on His help and use the power He has freely given us. We just need to ask (Philippians 4:13) and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Acts 1:8 reads “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” In this scripture, Jesus was answering the questions of the disciples about when the Kingdom would be restored. He told them it wasn’t for them to know when and that He had something better for them. He had the Holy Spirit who would empower them to walk in His power and might to give them.

When the disciples received the Holy Spirit, they received the power that came with Him. The power of the Holy Spirit allowed them to be bold and minister the gospel in difficult moments and empower them by grace to preach in complete alignment with the Father (Titus 2:11-14).

Read in Acts 4:8-13 how Peter moved in the power of the Spirit as he preached to the masses. It is the Holy Spirit in us that causes us to move in power! Not ourselves.

As you journey through your week look at things in your life that seem impossible or you feel have drained you and call upon the Lords strength to get you back on your feet. Be sure to document your experiences this month and feel free to share. We would love to hear.
